Activation of a sculptural relief forms with light by combining LEDs and Projection Mapped animation. This series adopts the Gle mask form of The Dan people in Liberia to embody spirits that reveal themselves during masquerade performances.
The specific iconography adapted in this series is Dean Gle. It is a form that represents the aesthetic qualities that embodies an idealized version of Dan beauty.Through abstraction and synthesis, these forms are reinterpreted in a modern context and activated in a performative nature through projection mapping.
