The LightSquad is a collaborative arts collective based in the 3D Studio at UT Dallas. Comprising students, faculty, staff, and alumni, the group investigates material, process, context, and meaning at the intersection of storytelling, technology, and public space. Through projection mapping, digital fabrication, and immersive installations, they craft experiences that engage both site and audience. Led by Professor Andrew F. Scott with Professors Roxanne Minnish (retired), Amanda Marder, and Liz Trosper, LightSquad produces site-specific works that transform memory into poignant cultural narratives. From the Eisemann Center’s Pilot Projects to civic-scale activations like the Omni Hotel LED façade, their work animates architecture and redefines immersive performance through collaborations with artists such as Terence Blanchard and Rennie Harris. The collective exemplifies the Bass School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology’s commitment to project-based research and the expanding role of media arts in the public realm.
